Doctor

  • Dr. Norris W McGehee

Norris W. McGehee, DVM, Diplomate ABVP is a 1987 graduate of The University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine and became owner of McGehee Clinic For Animals in 1990.  He is certified as a Diplomat by the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners in Canine and Feline Medicine. Dr. McGehee has worked at the clinic since he was a young boy. He knew then that he wanted to follow in the footsteps of his uncle and founder of the clinic, Dr. Eugene H. McGehee. Every day Dr. McGehee shows that here is much more to playing his role at our clinic than just having his name on the building. His dedication to implementing and practicing the best medicine possible is evident in every step he takes. Dr. Norris is married to Lauren and has three sons, Hud, 7, Ian 5, and the late Norris McGehee, Jr.  In his free time, Dr. Norris enjoys being active with the East Memphis Rotary Club, spending time with his family, and being outdoors. Dr. Norris has a yellow Labrador named Lou, and a Golden Retriever named Blossom.

Barden Greenfield is a 1985 graduate of Mississippi State University of College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Greenfield is the co-founder of Southwind Animal Hospital in Memphis and within that practice was the Chief of Dentistry performing all dental procedures from Memphis and the mid-South area. Dr. Greenfield has completed his fourth year of an aggressive veterinary dental program that involved hundreds of hours of contact time with board certified veterinary dentists throughout the country. His dental interests are endodontics (root canal therapy), periodontics, and prosthodontics (crown therapy). He has lectured locally and nationally and has a tremendous passion for veterinary dentistry. Management

  • Leigh McLean

Leigh joined us in the spring of 2008 after an 18 year career in the restaurant business.  The fact that she gets to see and visit with so many of her clients from Lulu's is a definite plus!  It's not as big a career change as one would think as it is all about taking care of the client (and their pets). She is into the bribery way of managing by supplying a well stocked candy jar and plenty of homemade sweets. Leigh has three children, a semi adopted son, two beautiful daughters-in-law, and a granddog named Milo to spoil while waiting for grandchildren. Her free time is spent with friends, family, volunteering, baking, and at her getaway cabin on a lake in Arkansas. Thank you for your patience, Norris!
Technician

  • Amanda Sandlin , LVMT

Amanda  has worked at our clinic since 1997. She graduated from Columbia State Community College in 2002. She loves the fun staff and the great clients at McGehee Clinic. Amanda collects anything panda-related and enjoys spending time with her husband, Hunter, their new baby Judah and their two pets: Ladybug, a Border Collie mix; and P.J. Fattigans, a gorgeous fat cat. Little known to the outside world is the fact that she is a Rocky Horror Picture Show fan and can participate with the best of them. Get out the newspaper!

Melissa received her Bachelors Degree from Murray State in Kentucky. She then moved to Boulder, Colorado. In 2003, she and her husband Mike relocated to Memphis and fortunately for us to McGehee Clinic. Melissa is the "go to girl". In her five years here she has made herself invaluable as the person who can answer almost any question most of us might have. With her high energy (which is hard to have when you exist on root beer and Doritos) she is an inspiration to the work ethic for all of us. She was voted Technician of the Year in 2007.  In her free time she enjoys wakeboarding, swimming, and horseback riding. She and Mike enjoy the company of their cat Lambeau, and Labrador, Vincent. Melissa is sad to be the only employee  here born in Green Bay, Wisconsin and therefore her team, (guess who) is completely ignored. GO PACKERS!
Reception

  • Courtney Sage

Courtney  has been a member of our reception staff since 2001. She has a BFA in Fiber from Kansas City Art Institute but chose a career in the veterinary world due to her love for animals. She thinks her job is the best because of the wonderful staff and many sweet pets she encounters every day. She enjoys spending time in Belize, looking at clouds, and being surrogate mother to Cleo, our African Grey parrot and clinic mascot. She has two cats, Sadie Strange, a tabby with avocado green eyes; and L'Baby, a chartreux mix from the country. We think Courtney is so amazing because she can greet almost everyone (client or pet)who walks in the door by name. Her dream is to move to Belize and we keep telling her how much she will hate it so she'll stay with us!

  • Annie Phifer

Annie has been a member of our team since 2003.  She is often one of the first people you see when you walk through the door. Annie can greet you and your pet by name as you are walking in and knows what kind of food you need to buy for them when you don't remember! She loves working here because she loves all animals!  Annie graduated from the University of Tennessee in 2003 with a Bachelor's degree in History.  In her free time she likes taking Buck and Katie, her beautiful Golden Retrievers, to the park. She also enjoys reading, cooking, spending time with her friends, and playing with her niece, Gracie. Recently, she showed up at work one morning with a beautiful ring on her finger. The lucky couple are saying their "I Do's" in late fall of 2008 and we all share their happiness. (Wedding details to follow). Please don't take her away from us Cason...she's the problem solver!

  • Cleo , Clinic Mascot, Bird-In-Residence

Cleo is an African Grey Parrot  born in 1986 who has lived most of her life at the clinic. As our mascot, she is loved by all the employees and clients for her many different voices and surprising phrases! She has the intelligence of a 5 year old child(as well she should since she watches videos all day) and is constantly pampered by Courtney (her surrogate Mom) and alot of her friends. Cleo is also into recycling. She spends alot of time tearing up old yellow pages and making messes. Come by for a visit anytime!

  • Bobby Bess

Bobby is the resident "old timer" having been here since 1998. He is the authority on how to fix everything and where a missing something may be hiding! He knows almost all the pets by name and has shaved generations of cats for their owners. His love for all the animals really shows through by his dedication to the clinic. In his spare time he enjoys BMX racing with his son Brian and taking road trips.
  • Alvin Malkin

Alvin  is retired from government work. He graces us with his presence here at McGehee when he is not fishing or going to Tunica. In watching Alvin take care of the animals we can all learn a lesson about respect and love. He treats them like we would all like to be cared for in our lives. At this time he has no pets of his own so he can lead the free life of a semi-retired bachelor! Alvin does manage to show up at work on his days off if there is food involved.

  • Connie Reynolds

Connie joined our clinic in March of 2006. As our fearless kennel leader she keeps us on our toes making sure all our pets are getting the best possible care and attention. Her theory is that all the animals belong to her that are here at McGehee and she lets their owners borrow them! Whatever the "Mom" of the clinic is doing, her heart is with the animals. She always goes the extra mile; tying bows on the pretty girls, a little longer in the bathtub for a rubdown, and writing a special note on our take home report cards.  If there is extra love, Connie is giving it. Special to her are Yorkies and Bulldogs: however, she has a Pomeranian, Dinah and a cat named Barney. She works side by side with her daughter Rhonda a couple of days a week and they enjoy lunching together. In her spare time, Connie enjoys crocheting and taking care of her grandchildren.

  • Katie Brown

Vetsuite_Img_51155Katie started at McGehee Clinic in October of 2007 while she was in school studying to be a therapist. We are still not sure if she is going to be a people or an animal therapist!  All we know is that it will be a sad day for us when she graduates (not really) and moves on. Whichever path she chooses she will do well because she has a special and soothing relationship with all she comes in contact with. Katie loves working with the kittens and all the strays seem to find their way to her door. Between school, work, running, family, and friends, her days stay full. Thank you Katie for being such an important part of the clinic.

  • Jordan McDugle

Vetsuite_Img_50926Jordan started working at the clinic when he was a junior at White Station High School.  We are lucky to still have him here with us as he is starting his freshman year at University of Memphis in 2008. His love of animals and people shows in everything he does. His dream after college is to be a Christian Youth Minister, and  we are sure he will attain that goal. Jordan loves playing sports, riding his bicycle, eating all the sweets he can find, drawing penguins (weird), and his job. He currently lives with 2 Greyhounds, one Chihuahua mix, one mother, and one brother. Go Tigers! View

  • Keenan G Smith

Vetsuite_Img_50925Keenans love of animals started in high school when he volunteered at a veterinary clinic. Following that he worked at a shop taking care of reptiles, small animals, and birds. When he joined us in late 2007 he brought his experience and enthusiasm with him. When Keenan is not working he loves playing basketball, football, and spending time with family and friends. He insists he can sing and dance, but, that bit of talent is saved for his numerous girlfriends to admire. His fellow employees would like to ask Keenan to please turn the boom down in his car!

  • Brandon Spight

What a welcome addition this Woodale High School graduate is to our clinic. In early March of 2009 Brandon brought his veterinary experience, love of animals, and outstanding work ethic to Dr. Norris' always dedicated team. His background in this field quickly made him an important part of the kennel decision making process. Whether it's helping out in surgery or giving a bath Brandon's steadiness and confidence truly shine through. When not at work his love of cooking, shopping, and grilling  make him a must for some lady to snap  out of his bachelor status! Actually, he does ahave a lady friend. (lucky girl) He also enjoys basketball (Tigers and Grizzlies) and for football..the Tennessee Titans of course. Listening to music and shooting pool round out his hobbies during leisure time. We know that Brandon will be a part of the McGehee family for a long time to come as he grows to learn more about the clinic and the precious loved ones you leave in our care

  • Marlene Chaney

Marlene joined us at McGehee Clinic in October of 2008 after a stay at home with her adorable son Seth who was born in December of 2007. Alhtough not a born and bred Memphian...she is close. The move from Oklahoma to Memphis when she was only 7 years old and attending Campus School make her a Memphian at heart. After high school she had a decision to make, animals or flowers? Flowers did not quite win as after she became a certified florist she decided that a carreer with animals is really where her heart was. Our gain! Marlene's work at the Humane Society gave her the experience she needed to do a great job with us. The tenderness she shows for the animals whether it's bathing,or walking , or holding for an exam is soothing for the pets and their owners. She has 2 cats, Lestat and Sheba and a bird named Pretty Bird. Between spending time with her son,her boyfriend J.J. and trying to fit in time arranging flowers, bowling, family, and movies, this talented young lady stays very busy. We all wish her the best of luck as we bring her into the clinic family.

Grooming

  • Lisa Pfund

Lisa Pfund has over 7 years experience in the grooming industry, and is a member of A.S.P.C.A.  She was born and reared in Memphis, and calls Midtown home.  She shares that home with two Shih tzus named Tootsie and Gonzo.

Assistants

  • Ginny Moseley

Ginny has been with us since 2000. She spent most of her life in Wales, but has been in the States since 1996. Her accent (which she denies having) definitely adds a bit of authority to anything she says! Ginny believes that spending summers on her dad's farm in rural Tennessee with a varying amount of horses, pigs, dogs, and cats made her sound like the rest of us. It certainly instilled a love of animals in her spirit. She graduated from State Technical Institute of Memphis and lives with two cats, Dixie and Belly, who like to play fetch. Maybe they learned it from Ginny because she is a real baseball fan. You will find her at all the Redbirds games hooting and hollering and any Cardinals game she can manage to see. Off-season her hobbies include reading, music, art and, since the fall of 2008, taking classes for her veterinary technician license. She will have to have her report card signed by Dr. McGehee! Good grades are a must.

  • Keely A Watson

Keely started as a volunteer at McGehee in November of 2007 and was quickly added as an employee as her skill and love of animals became apparent. When she is not caring for her patients at work she spends time with Hazel, a Boxer mix, and Koozy, a miniature Dachsund. Update...Koozy just ran her first marathon in September of 08! Go Koozy! Keely says the hardest thing about work is resisting all the homemade goodies in the kitchen. (No Keely, chocolate will not make you taller). The stepladder was purchased for your use! She has been a great addition to the technical team with her sense of fun and mischevious ways. Vetsuite_Img_66184
